Stonewood Homes have re-signed as major sponsors of the Wellington Lions, who kick off their Premiership campaign against Bay of Plenty at Sky Stadium on Sunday August 7.

Stonewood Homes manager Michael Chow said the homebuilding group was proud to be a long-time partner of the Wellington Lions and looked forward to a successful rugby season.

“We’ve been a major team sponsor for seven years now and we have a strong commitment to club and community sport in our region,” Chow said.

“Rugby remains one of the most popular sports in New Zealand and it’s a game that brings communities together to support their teams.”

Wellington Lions director of rugby Matt Evans said Stonewood Homes has been a long-time loyal supporter of the Lions.

“We are extremely proud and excited to continue this partnership with Stonewood Homes,” said Evans.

“They have been with us for seven years, showing their commitment to the team and our community.”

Evan said the Lions looked set for a solid season, with the squad made up of eight players who played for the All Blacks, including World Cup winner Nehe Milner-Skudder, brothers Julian and Ardie Savea, and 22 current or former Super Rugby players.

“We also have some talented new players from Wellington, including Oriental-Rongotai loosie Sione Halalilo and New Zealand U20 midfielder Riley Higgins. Petone loosie Peter Lakai and MSP lock Josh Toómaga join the team full-time after debuting last year.

Stonewood Homes has been building quality homes for Kiwi families for over 30 years. They are one of New Zealand’s largest and leading home builders with a network of 19 locally owned and operated offices. Since opening in 1987, they have built over 6,000 homes. www.stonewood.co.nz
