Salford Red Devils player selected for England Lions regional Rugby League side

A rising star has been selected to play in a national under-16 team.

Joshua Blinkhorn, 16, from Ulverston has been selected to play for the England Lions regional Rugby League side to face France at Under-16 level.

Joshua, who played for Dalton ARLFC Under-16, signed to play for the Salford Red Devils in April alongside Sam Atkinson and Dan Knott.

In their time at Dalton ARLFC, the lads were the ‘backbone of success’ for Dalton’s side, who went unbeaten in the league last season, winning the North West Counties League league.

Joshua, is a skilled half-back and has been playing rugby since the age of six, having played for Millom RLFC for most of that time, but moved to Ulverston last year in favor of Dalton.

Joshua is the only player selected from South Cumbria, his success said to be a ‘testament’ of his hard work in training and hours of all-weather training on his own.

Josh said he wanted to thank Kevin’s coach OBrien Joshua at Dalton, for his guidance and encouragement to stay on top of his game over the past two difficult years with Covid restrictions for himself and his teammates at Dalton.
