NFL, Alabama fans and media react as Detroit trades for former Alabama WR

The Detroit Lions made a big trade to move up to the 12th overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft.
The Lions already had the 2nd overall pick, which they used to select Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson. They were expected to hold the final 1st round pick, originally obtained when they traded Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams for Jared Goff. However, they would trade that selection, along with the 34th and 66th picks, to the Vikings for the 12th and 46 picks.
And that 12th pick was used to provide a weapon in Goff’s receiving corps as Detroit took on Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams. Williams was electric for the Crimson Tide in his only season at Tuscaloosa after 2 years at Ohio State, making 79 catches for 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns before suffering a torn ACL in the College Football Playoff National Championship game against the Georgia.
Now Williams’ next stop is Detroit, and a franchise looking for its first playoff appearance since 2016. Here’s how social media reacted:
Jameson Williams is recovering well from the ACL. The teams’ only concern was the hope that he would slow down his rehabilitation a bit
Probably in the middle of the season but what a threat for the Lions.— Chris Mortensen (@mortreport) April 29, 2022

If I could beat the table for just one prospect, Jameson Williams would be my pick. His ability to get away from defenders effortlessly and take advantage of his speed is fascinating.
It’s scary that he hasn’t even reached the ceiling of his potential. The Lions have an exciting playmaker.

Jameson Williams and Aiden Hutchinson? Yes, it’s a good draft.

What makes getting Jameson Williams even nicer is that it didn’t really take much to move up and get the best wide receiver in the draft.
