New Baltimore Lions gear up for three days of winter fun – The Voice

The New Baltimore Lions Club is gearing up for three days filled with fun winter events. This year, Winterfest is taking place February 25-27 in downtown New Baltimore.

Live entertainment, food and drink and play activities for all ages are on the program.

“The entertainment lineup includes seven bands in total,” said Laura Szymanski, Winterfest president and 2nd vice president of the Lions Club. “We are excited to welcome new entertainment groups to our area.”

The annual Polar Plunge is set to return at 1 p.m. on February 27 at Walter and Mary Burke Park. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume and the most money raised.

The ice fishing tournament will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on February 26 at Walter and Mary Burke Park. Cash prizes will be awarded.

Cornhole tournaments are scheduled each day of the event, with an open tournament on February 25, a league tournament on February 26, and another open tournament on February 27. Registration costs $25 and can be completed on the same day as the tournament.

New activities are also planned for this year’s event.

“Winterfest 2022 is set to add a show, a high school hangout, guns and pipes (tug of war on the shore), a road rally, and the addition of a chili soup category,” said Szymansky.

There will be two beer tents this year featuring craft beer selections from Arctic Circle Brewing Co. in Chesterfield Township. The Lion’s Den tent will be set up on Front Street, while the King’s Lair tent will be located on Washington Street.

Entrance to the tent is free until 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and all day on Sunday. Admission, which includes both tents, is $5 per person after 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Food trucks and vendors will also be on site all weekend. DJ entertainment will be provided by DJ Big Truck.

“We’re expecting thousands of guests this year, and when they arrive, they’ll find a variety of food trucks on Front Street with different food options,” Szymanski said. “JJ’s Shrimp, Mr. Pitmaster, Batter Up Waffles and the Daily Grind are confirmed. We are awaiting confirmation from the chicken, pasta and cookie trucks.

Winterfest is the Lions Club’s largest annual fundraising event. Proceeds from the three-day event will benefit Lions charities including the Anchor Bay Community Foundation, Anchor Bay High School Student Scholarships, Eversight, Leader Dogs for the Blind, Meals on Wheels , Project Kidsight, The Salvation Army and many more.
