Lions donate £4,250 for brain tumor research

The Frome Lions Club has presented a check for over £4,000 to a charity funding groundbreaking brain tumor research.

Frome Lions President Greg Wood, Brain Tumor Research Physician Fran Stary, Event Organizer Frank Collins and some of the Lions who attended the day.

Lions member Mike Geake reports, “At his recent meeting held at Frome Rugby Club, Frome Lions Club President Greg Wood presented the Head of Brain Tumor Research for Lions Multiple District 105 (Islands) British), Fran Stary, a check for £4,250, which was the proceeds of our annual charity golf day held at Mendip Golf Club last September.

“Lions Clubs International (MD105) British Isles is working in partnership with Brain Tumor Research to raise £1 million over four years to help fund groundbreaking research and raise awareness of the impact of brain tumours.

“Brain Tumor Research is dedicated to raising funds for continued and lasting scientific research on brain tumors. It supports one of the largest collaborative groups of laboratory scientists in the UK.

“The Lions would like to thank Mendip Golf Club together with general sponsor Chase de Vere and competition sponsors Rogers & Co, The Royce Clinic Ltd, Dave Lucey Ltd, SPW Mechanical, CW Accountancy and Penleigh Butchers and all participants. for their generous support which enabled the Lions to raise this magnificent sum for their chosen charity.
