Lions At The Gate / Cristian Machado, ex-vocalist of Ill Niño, heard Metallica for the first time: “I was immediately drawn in”

In a recent interview with RadioactiveMike Zhost of 96.7 KCAL-FM radio program “Hardwired in the Empire”ancient ILL NIÑO and current LIONS AT THE DOOR singer Christian Machado was asked about his introduction to the music of METALLIC. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “My introduction to METALLIC been ‘Puppeteer’. I remember living in New York. My Polish cousin, ironically—I’m Latino, but I have a small part of my family from Poland—he had visited our family from Poland. And apparently I learned that day that in Europe, and especially in Eastern Europe, they are about underground metal way earlier than the Americans. Back then, in the 80s, Europeans and Eastern Europeans knew about metal bands long before America blew them up. And he came down and he took me to a record store and ‘Puppeteer’ was one of the albums he purchased that day. And I will never have the listening experience that I had; to my ears it was out of this world, it was almost foreign and I was drawn to it immediatelyimmediately.”

He continued: “One of my favorite METALLIC the songs are definitely off ‘…And justice for all’, ‘Eve of the dyers’what i always felt was so extreme METALLIC song that always felt right next level for them. But the ‘Puppeteer’ album is what holds a real place in my heart as METALLIC fanboy at my young age.”

When RadioactiveMike Z said there was no weak song on “Puppeteer”, Machado Okay. “Absolutely,” he said. “And even until the end, with songs like ‘Leper Messiah’ and things like that, they drove the nail so hard on this album; they didn’t lose their focus, every song was intentional and intense, and they sounded good. They had their own sound back then in thrash metal, and I think that’s still a big thing in music.”

LIONS AT THE DOOR will make its live debut on April 28 at the legendary Whiskey A Go Go in West Hollywood, California. Support for the show will come from THROWED IN EXILE and BREAK IN A SEQUENCE.
