Former Detroit Lions Open Flagship Clinic in Michigan | Canna Business | Detroit
Primitiv, the cannabis brand founded by former Detroit Lions players Calvin Johnson and Rob Sims, has announced the opening of its flagship dispensary in Niles, Michigan.
Located at 1286 S. 11th St., Primitiv will not only sell its own cannabis products, but will also carry other Michigan-based cannabis brands such as Hyman Cannabis, Pleasantrees, and White Boy Rick’s The 8th.
“This is a passion project that we have been cultivating for several years and we couldn’t be more excited to see it become a reality,” Sims said in a press release. “We have made Michigan our home and have been blessed by the support we have received from our community and believe this is a great way to plant roots and give back to the communities that have embraced us.”
The dispensary also offers branded merchandise, which Primitiv is currently developing custom products such as jerseys, soccer balls, trading cards and helmets to be sold later this year.
The dispensary is licensed for adult use, so anyone 21 or older with a valid ID can enter.
The former players started Primitiv after both used marijuana drugs as an alternative to opioid prescriptions while playing football. After retiring, the players began exploring the cannabis industry for its healing properties and working to destigmatize cannabis as it relates to athletes.
“We’ve seen so many of our brothers across the league turn to other forms of pain relief just to get through the game, the day, or the season,” Johnson said in a press release. “We believe in the holistic properties of cannabis as an all-natural, herbal option not just for athletes, but anyone looking for physical or mental relief. We’ve only just scratched the surface of our innovation process and look forward to more news to share later this year. »
Primitiv is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday.
